El programa LEADER es un programa de desarrollo rural financiado por la Unión Europea y el gobierno de Aragón. consiste en ayudas económicas. La subvención disponible para el período 2007-2013 fue de 5.137.360€. Este programa se realiza en periodos de 7 años. Se han realizado en los períodos 1996-2007, 2007-2013 y el actual 2014-2020. Tiene como objetivo global impulsar el desarrollo de la comarca de Somontano de Barbastro a partir del fomento de la calidad, de la valorización de la identidad cultural y de la promoción de la sostenibilidad.
El programa adopta como objetivos finales, la meta y los objetivos del Programa de Desarrollo Rural de Aragón y pretende contribuir a:

- Diversificar la economía comarcal,
- Mejorar la calidad de vida,
- Frenar la despoblación,
- Mantener el medio agrario,
- Impulsar la sostenibilidad del territorio
- Aumentar el atractivo socioeconómico del Somontano basándose en sus recursos más diferenciadores.
Pueden solicitar las ayudas de este programa:
- Empresarios autónomos, o personas físicas que vayan a ser empresarios autónomos.
- Sociedades Mercantiles, Sociedades Agrarias de Transformación, Cooperativas, Sociedades Laborales, o cualquier otra entidad asociativa o societaria con personalidad jurídica recogida en la legislación vigente.
- Comunidades de Bienes o entidades de tipo comunal
- Asociaciones o Fundaciones sin ánimo de lucro, de carácter preferentemente local.
- Entidades Públicas de carácter local.

2- merchant societies , agricultural societies , cooperatives , laboral societies or any other corporate entities with a legal personality that appears on the current law.
